So, you’ve booked a podiatry appointment - fantastic!

You’ve already taken a positive step toward healthier, happier feet. If you’ve been putting it off or promised yourself you'd prioritise foot care this year, you’re doing the right thing.

First things first: there’s no need to feel nervous or embarrassed. We’re here to help, not judge, and trust us - your feet are in safe hands. We’ve truly seen it all before!

To ensure you get the most out of your visit, here are our top preparation tips:

Before Your Appointment:

1. Make a note of your concerns

Write down any symptoms or issues you’d like to discuss, as well as any treatments or remedies you’ve already tried.

2. Know your medical background

We’ll ask about your medical and surgical history as these can influence your foot health and the treatments we provide.

3. Bring a list of medications & allergies

This helps us tailor your care safely and effectively.

4. Remove nail polish

Clear nails allow us to assess nail and skin health, as well as circulation.

5. Choose easy-to-remove footwear

Comfortable socks and shoes that you can slip off easily will make the appointment smoother.

6. Wear trousers you can roll up

We’ll need to examine your feet and lower legs, so loose, easy-to-adjust clothing is best. (If you wear a skirt or dress, you may wish to wear cycling/bike shorts underneath for added comfort and modesty.)

7. Fresh, clean feet

Wash and thoroughly dry your feet - especially between your toes!

8. Skip foot cream on the day

We need to see your skin’s natural condition, and creams can make treatment more difficult.

9. Bring a notebook (optional)

You’re welcome to take notes, though we’re happy to print or email any information you need.

10. Bring your everyday shoes

Footwear plays a big role in foot health. Bring the shoes you wear most often so we can assess whether they’re contributing to any issues.

11. Complete any forms in advance

If we’ve sent you paperwork, please fill it in and bring it along - it saves time during your visit.

12. Ask questions

If you’re unsure about anything before your podiatry appointment, feel free to call or email us. We’re here to help.

Look forward to feeling great

You’re investing in your wellbeing, and we’re excited to support you. With a little preparation, you'll be ready to walk out feeling confident and on the path to improved foot health.

We hope this blog helps you prepare for your appointment. If we haven't answered all your questions please feel free to email us at info@mrpodiatrist.co.uk
